MYTH OR SCIENCE
THE QUEST FOR PERFECTION
CBC TELEVISION, THE NATURE OF THINGS
2013 | 44 mins
Myth buster for science, Dr. Jennifer Gardy, continues her mission to separate science fiction from science fact. Once again she uses her own body, and unorthodox tests, to put claims about self-improvement under the microscope and discover if they’re myth or science.
Self-improvement is at the very heart of many of our hopes and dreams. Bloggers, celebrities and talk show hosts know this and produce a constant flow of claims. In Myth or Science: The Quest for Perfection, Gardy puts these claims the test.
To find out if a few minutes of High Intensity Training can replace hours of endurance workouts, Gardy hits the bike for two weeks at the McMaster Lab.
She goes head to head with a champion snowboarder to discover whether you can be fat and fit.
She meets a scientist who teaches her how to exercise her brain and improve her willpower.
And she puts the raw food diet on trial.
In the process Gardy offers an unexpected and revealing perspective on the pop-science questions of the day. Using the latest tech, unexpected experiments, and traditional scientific investigation, she provides a humorous and unique take on the science that affects our lives and health.
